“Love In a Nutshell”
A fable of a Weavle,
Is unable, or too feeble,
To display, array or portray Love,
In its True magnitude.
However …
This did not stop the Weavle,
From sitting at his table,
Writing and reciting,
Poem, story or fable.
Through nutshell window, he thus observed:
Dew on grass, undisturbed.
And song of bird and smell of herb,
And liquid light on sodden earth.
The Garden that was his Universe,
Seemed to shine and glow.
Life pulsing through its roots,
From Hedge to mistle-Toe.
He breathed in Natural Beauty.
Tiny eyes wide in awe.
For he now beheld his surroundings,
In a way he had never before;
For every budding leaf,
And shining blade of grass,
He felt a weltering feeling of Love,
Swelling up his heart.
He dared to look on …
How could he fit so much,
Into such a tiny heart?
From the nutshell came the faintest sound,
As the organ burst apart.
pop.
The year rolled by …
The Nutshell lies amongst tree roots,
Brown leaves and dead floral array.
On its table still lies the Weavle’s last words:
“Love is but a window away”.”
